The Belize Tourism Industry Association would like to welcome qualified and competent applicants for the position vacant of Accountant/Assistance Membership Executive at the National Secretariat office in Belize City.

Overall Job Objective: To carry out the daily financial functions of the secretariat with particular emphasis in updating QuickBooks and generating end of month financial reports and to support the delivery of services rendered to all members in collaboration with Membership and Operations Executive.

Reports to: Executive Director and Membership and Operations Executive

Main Accounting duties:

  • To document and record all daily financial transactions with supporting documents using manual receipts and QuickBooks
  • To properly manage and ensure timely payments of income tax and social security contributions monthly -
  • To ensure membership fees are current and collected in a timely manner
  • A monthly report for membership fees collected must be provided monthly
  • Deposits and payments received must be properly documented and recorded in QuickBooks
  • To prepare employee salaries/wages in a timely manner for the agreed payment dates – Middle/End of month
  • Financial reports (Balance Sheet, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows, Notes of Financial Statements, Revenues and Expenses, Budget Report)must be provided at the end of each month prior to Board Meeting

Main Assistant Membership Officer duties:

  • To assist the Membership and Operations Executive with duties dealing with all members and destination chapters
  • To Contribute Direct promotional support for the increase of membership and effectiveness of BTIA as a membership based organization
  • Maintain relations with members by organizing and developing specific membership programs, determine association’s presence at conventions, meetings, annual meetings and seminars
  • Develop marketing and communications strategy to increase membership, inform members and meet membership queries, information requests and needs
  • Update BTIA’s ACCESS and ONLINE database – ensuring accuracy in data.
  • Assist in coordination of all BTIA membership activities – AGM, BI Annual, tradeshow and seminar attendance etc.
  • Design and distribute membership and BTIA notices electronically and by other means
  • Perform any other duties assigned from time to time related to the post that serves the organization’s effective delivery of membership services and daily operations
