BTIA Announces Belize Tourism Expo 2006
BELIZE CITY, Belize (September 5, 2006) - BETEX 2006 is now only one week away, and the Belize Tourism Industry Association is excited to announce that the tourism industry is ready to welcome all delegates to this important tradeshow. Delegate attendance is up 20% from the last event in 2004, and all indications are that this BETEX will be the largest show ever.
BETEX has been promoted internationally as the most important event for any trade professional interested in doing travel related business with Belize, and is designed to create the perfect opportunity for interaction among local suppliers, international wholesalers and travel agents. Local exhibitors will have the opportunity to conduct business with trade professionals from the United States, Canada and Europe. Some 80 local supplier companies and 140 international trade and press delegates will be in attendance.
This year's show will include a 2-day marketplace that allows for networking and business meetings, followed by a 3-day expedition, with seven itinerary options countrywide. The Marketplace will be held in Belize City at the Princess Hotel and Casino. The seven expedition options are focused on Culture/Archaeology, Island Adventure, Jungle/Wildlife, Diving/Snorkeling and Reef/Rainforest. In addition to the marketplace and expedition, BETEX will feature educational seminars, as well as cultural shows and functions.
The show will be open to the General Public from 2:00-4:00pm on September 14, and will conclude with the announcement of the BETEX Best Booth "Top-Ten" Winners, with a grand prize valued at BZ$15,000.00.
The Belize Tourism Board is one of the major sponsors of BETEX, and will be hosting the Opening Ceremony. The airlines have shown tremendous support, with TACA Airlines offering free tickets (positive space) to qualified leisure wholesalers, American Airlines offering a fare of US$225 out of the US & Canada, and Continental Airlines offering discounts and special Zone Fares for all qualified attendees.
Host hotels include Princess Hotel & Casino, Radisson Fort George and Belize Biltmore Plaza. International media sponsors include Travel World News, Jax Fax and Scuba Diving Magazine.
