The Belize Tourism Industry Association advocates for sustainable tourism development in Belize.  

Sustainable tourism is an industry committed to making a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate future employment for local people.  Sustainable tourism development avoids damage to the environment, economy and cultures of the locations where it takes place. The aim of sustainable tourism in Belize is to ensure that development is a positive and supportable experience for our Belizean citizens and residents, our tourism companies, and tourists themselves, and that it respects and preserves our country's natural and cultural heritage. 

The tourism industry globally continues to embrace sustainable tourism, and it is becoming increasingly evident that travelers as well as stakeholders are opening up to new ways of caring for and protecting the places we all love to visit.

We therefore appeal to both local and international travelers and travel companies to make a commitment to working in partnership to develop practical solutions for safeguarding the resources upon which Belize's tourism industry's future depends.
