Particularly in these difficult economic times, our members find it challenging to maintain marketing efforts and make sufficient budget allocations for this important business activity.

BTIA clearly acknowledges that the overall responsibility of Belize’s national marketing falls officially under the auspices of the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), the purpose for which hotel tax collection is primarily intended.  For this reason, BTIA, through its Advocacy efforts, will continue to advise BTB on these national initiatives by providing feedback from members on all aspects of destination marketing.  At the same time, BTIA recognizes that marketing is a membership need, and will continue to assist where possible through the coordination and support of specific Marketing projects.

All marketing efforts undertaken by the BTIA will aim to market the services of its members.  Examples of two major Marketing projects undertaken by the BTIA are the Belize Tourism Expo (BETEX) - Belize's only national tradeshow that brings travel trade professionals to Belize; and the Destination Belize Magazine - the official visitor's guide to Belize.  BTIA also supports participation in other initiatives, including tradeshow representation and collaboration with the Belize Hotel Association on the Global Marketing Initiative (GMI), as well as the organization of Belize's participation in Fedecatur's regional tradeshow, Central America Travel Market (CATM) and others.
