Income Tax Consultation

The Belize Tourism Industry Association in conjunction with the Income Tax Department of Belize will be holding a consultative session on March 27, 2014 at the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize City commencing at 9:00 am.  The BTIA through this medium is seeking your attendance at this important event as a concerned stakeholder on this matter.

BTIA members will note that this consultative session is being conducted as a direct follow up to the resolution requested at our last AGM held in December 2013 wherein the BTIA was tasked to follow up with the Income Tax Department to seek further clarity and a potential resolution on the matter of concerns raised at the 2013 AGM related to ‘service charges’ being assessed by the Department.

As a property owner or business manager, kindly make every effort to attend this important session in order to ensure your concerns are fully represented in regards to the ‘service charge’ matters.  Please note that the consultation’s primary focus is ensuring a workable solution(s) on the way forward jointly with the Income Tax Department on the above issue, on behalf of the industry.

We will, as per the agenda, however, also look at other taxation concerns affecting the wider industry in an effort to establish a broader discussion on these other matters which will undoubtedly continue through the first half of the year in working towards solution-based dialogue and future actions for these other areas.

Once again, we seek your support in advancing the effectiveness of this exercise by ensuring your attendance at this session.  Please send your confirmation to the BTIA National Secretariat by March 24, 2014 at info@btia.org.

We take this opportunity to share with you several legislative items that we recommend you become familiar with, if you have not already done so, to be able to properly discuss the topics on that day.

We look forward to seeing you on March 27, 2014.

Kind Regards,

Herbert Haylock

President
