CCBTIA Annual General Meeting
Caye Caulker January 23, 2013. The Caye Caulker Branch of the Belize Tourism Industry Association held its Annual General Membership meeting on January 10, 2013. At this meeting, the outgoing nine-member Board of Directors led by Ms. Stacy Badillo reported on the accomplishments and financial position of the Branch.
Specific activities of the CCBTIA Strategic Plan completed in 2012 included a new logo, the production of the membership promotional DVD, the application of social media, the construction of a new website, www.cayecaulkervacation.com, fundraising for the island police barracks, participation at BETEX, garbage can, safe swim and security projects. Initiatives still in the pipeline include the Information Center and Heritage projects.
Thanks to the members and the community, $3,179.48 was raised and presented to the Village Council and Officer in Command Caye Caulker Police for repairs to the police barracks.
Many other activities were undertaken with varying degrees of success including a grant proposal to the US Embassy under the CARSI regional community policing program, a cooperation proposal to the Ministry of Tourism, on-going membership drives and income generation.
Guest Speaker, Mr. Herbert Haylock, President of BTIA reminded the importance of the association in policy, planning and economic development of the country. His call to the Branch is to double its membership by considering all service providers as complementary to our own services rather than as competition. He elaborated on the opportunities of working together as an association and the responsibility to be active members.
The meeting was well attended by members and visitors from Belize City and Cayo. Idea Lab Studios presented the new website and Mr. Herbert Haylock, President of BTIApresided over the elections. The slate was uncontested and the new CCBTIA Board of Directors is as follows:

Master of Ceremonies for the meeting was Maria Vega and the singing of the anthem, an acapella, was led by BTIA immediate past president, James Scott.
Caye Caulker BTIA is one of BTIA’s longest standing branches a mere two months younger than BTIA itself, having been officially ratified on June 30, 1985 in a meeting on Caye Caulker presided over by Mrs. Jean Shaw BTIA founding president in the presence of Honourable Derek Aikman then Minister of Tourism. CCBTIA starts 2013 with a membership 50 strong and new strategic activities aiming for greater success in cooperation with members and the wider community.
Appreciation was expressed to all members and supporters, to retiring CCBTIA officers and a special thank you to Talia Tillett, BTIA staff.
